The Old Capitol Grill & Smokehouse was rebranded to better reflect the rich history of the building and promote the expanded menu of smoked meats and classic American fare with unique twists.
Conveying the governmental history associated with the building along with the “uniquely Colorado restaurant/bar experience” was important to communicate in all aspects of the branding process. Built in 1863, with additions in the mid-1860s, this was the original Colorado Capitol Building. Colorado’s territorial legislature met in this building and helped shape the territory into what would become the country’s 38thstate in 1876.
Miners Saloon is a modern day saloon celebrating Golden’s mining days in the late 1800s. Created with a casual, uniquely rustic interior, the ambience is a perfect balance of period details and modern comforts. The brand development needed to convey the old West saloon feel with a contemporary edge.
Specializing exclusively in naturally curly and wavy hair, Devana Salon’s new branding needed to communicate that this is the best place to come to have your beautiful curls cared for by a hairstylist who is an expert in curly hair. Communicating their unique expertise and while positioning the branding to be clean, fun and contemporary was the challenge.

Summit Aire, a packager and distributor of medical and industrial gases, requested our services to rebrand and create a new website. The objectives were to make an older looking company look more relevant, heighten their exposure in the community and position them for growth. We rebranded and took advantage of route trucks by wrapping them as rolling billboards.
Summit Aire required a simple yet informative website for their audience that promoted their products and services to the medical and commercial markets. Stortz Design built the website with CMS and with a responsive framework. This along with movement and interaction, promoted their full line of products and services.
The Briarwood Inn, a fine dining tradition in Golden, CO, asked Stortz Design to assess their branding and refresh their website with modern web technologies and a whole new look. Using the same CMS format and theme from the catering site and with some added functionality, the site provided better overall UX design. Directing users and conveying a story that provides the restaurant experience on the web while showcasing monthly events, an all in one menu tab and reservation forms.
The renowned Briarwood Inn of Golden, CO wanted to extend their hospitality footprint and expand into the catering and wedding venues. The idea was to carry forward the great Briarwood fine dining reputation and combine that experience with the chef’s custom menus prepared and transported across the Denver area. They asked Stortz Design to develop the new brand and website.
Bringing over the traditional European style of the Briarwood and combining it with elegance and texture, Stortz Design was able to portray the essence that is Fine Catering & Events by The Briarwood. This was achieved through business cards with imprinted gold foil on the logo and complimented by the texture on earth tone stock.
A responsive, CMS site was created. showcasing all the Fine Catering & Events The Briarwood has to offer. Utilizing the full width of the browser for background photos and parallax effect, the user experience never gets lost with the sticky navigation and back-to-top jump scroll. Modals were used for gallery photos and integrated API’s for 3rd party forms.
